All teacher education licensure programs are approved by the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB). The University of Minnesota College of Education and Human Development has been granted approval through June 30, 2026.

91.4% of 2022/23 candidates who completed the program agree or tend to agree that they would recommend the licensure program to other interested candidates.

Note: The Exit Survey from the 2022-23 Teacher Licensure Program Completers. Teacher candidates are surveyed as they exit their program, just before graduating – 93% response rate.

Employers agreed or tended to agree that first year teachers from our Initial Licensure programs:

• Effectively teach students from culturally and ethnically diverse backgrounds and communities.
• Create a learning environment in which differences such as race, culture, gender, sexual orientation, and language are respected.
• Collaborate with teaching colleagues to improve student performance.
• Act as an advocate for all students.
• Effectively organizes the physical environment of the classroom for instruction.

Note: The Supervisor (Employer Survey) of 2022-23 Teacher Licensure Program Completers. Employers are surveyed after new teachers have been in the classroom for about one academic year – 36% response rate.

Initial licensure program completers are tracked into their first year of teaching.

Over the three academic years of 2019-20 through 2021-22, UMN-TC completers’ employment rate was 92.3%
