Tricia graduated from the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota with a bachelor of arts in psychology in 2004. She later earned her master’s of education from the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Minnesota in 2013.
Tricia has worked closely with youth and families in a professional capacity since 2002. Her experience includes: directing youth day camps, creating community programming, coordinating community programs and events, coordinating early childhood educational programs as well as K-12 out-of-school-time programming, community outreach, and managing youth development programs.
Tricia became Director of TRIO Upward Bound in the fall of 2016. Previously, she had served as the Academic Services Coordinator since 2009. Tricia’s role as the Academic Services Coordinator was to ensure that TRIO Upward Bound curriculum is well developed and implemented and academic staff were properly trained and prepared to provide the best service to students. This role helped prepare her to lead the TRIO UB team and students for continued success. She is passionate about youth, education and the growth and development of young people. Tricia enjoys serving youth in the educational sector as well as being able to help develop and train staff.
She completed the Emerging Leaders Institute, a year-long leadership training in 2012. She has also had professional development in that areas of: equity and diversity, TRIO legislation and regulations, supervision, and has presented workshops at various conferences.
She is a member of the Educational Opportunity Association (EOA) and actively serves on the MN TRIO (state) board as well as the EOA (regional) board in numerous capacities. She has helped create and implement the Members Involved in Leadership and Engagement (MILE) program, a professional leadership program for TRIO professionals.
